Soften Something: Restorative Yoga with Live Music

Feeling stressed out, winter got you blue?? SOFTEN SOMETHING! Restorative Yoga is a delicious way to release the layers of tension that settle themselves into the energetic and physical bodies. In this healing workshop, we will melt into yoga poses that are fully supported by a number of props, so that you are able to experience total relaxation. Theses restorative poses will be sequenced in a way that gently move the spine, refresh internal organs, and restore balance to the body. Each pose will be held for a number of minutes to allow you to truly marinate in the tranquility. All the while being soothed by the sweet sounds of live music. Ending in a gong meditation to transform this practice to the ultimate relaxation!

You will not only leave feeling relaxed and restored, but will be equipped with the knowledge to re-create some of the postures in your own home or office.

No yoga experience necessary.

Length: 2 Hours
Cost: $30 if paid by Feb 20th, $45 thereafter

Butterflies in the Belly: Asana and the Inner Body

We tend to associate the physical practices of yoga with muscles and bones. Asana and pranayama also massage the body from the inside-out. Each movement that we perform in asana -- and every breath we take -- has a physiologic effect on the organs. During our practice together, we will explore the relationship between the movements of the spine and the abdominopelvic organs. We will learn about the internal organs and how the alignment of the organs is affected by and affects the movement of the outer body. This class intensive includes active and restorative pose practice.

Cost: $25 before March 11, $35 thereafter.

The Neck and Upper Extremity: Anatomy and Yoga Therapy

The neck is often described as painful. How many times have you "slept funny" and felt neck pain for several days afterward? Many of us experience chronic, uncomfortable tightness in our neck and upper shoulders, pain in our elbows and wrists, and numbness, tingling or pain in our hands and fingers. Of course, some of us also want to be able to "stand" safely on our heads, forearms and hands.

During this 2.5 hour workshop, we will explore the basic structure and normal movements of the neck, arms, wrists and hands. We will practice yoga poses and functional movements to work with restrictions and pain. We will practice poses that may help us develop the necessary strength and range of motion for inversions like Headstand. Finally, we will end our session with a supported rest specifically designed to create head, neck, shoulder and wrist comfort.
